My Urbane Bazaar

It was a childhood ritual to hold my father's finger and wander in the local vegetable market in my native place Assam...fresh heaps of seasonal vegetables piled everywhere...a painter's imagination I would say..every possible colour available in the vast palette..In todays sphisticated and modern language, to say the least the veggies were "organic"...I used to look forward to those Sundays..and what I enjoyed most was that being daddy's favourite, I had a say in choosing my choicest veggies..mind you I was not a bully!! Alas good times dont last very long...do they?

Anyways so many years later when I shop for my kitchen now in Blore I cant help but reminisce those fond memories...Off late I am limited to the gigantic shopping malls which otherwise offer limited choice of vegetables..did I miss seasonal?? Having said that there are still small hamlets in Blore which to some extent helps me relive my childhood experience..

----Madiwala market:
Madiwala market is a vast shopping spcae offering vegetables, fruits, fish, flowers, Puja items etc etc..If you have time and is brave enough to face Blore traffic, Madiwala offers excellent variety.

---HAL Market

HAL market is similar to Madiwala but much smaller. I frequent this place for buying fish. Huge variety of fishes are available at reasonable rates.

Other than these, I am more or less limited to the malls. Call it my laziness or the lack of enthusiasm to brave Blore traffic, I miss going to other Blore fresh markets. There are so many of them scattered around Blore.

Let me know if you have more info on such bright spots....
