Today's special: Fish fry, Tilapia-begun n Shorshe Mach


I am in a fishy mood today :-) Tilapia is a nice fish, I have always loved eating Tilapias. Come to think of it I love eating just any fish. Anyways I have 2 very nice Tilapias in the fridge which are dying for my attention. Just now called up hubby, as usual he is ok to eat anything. So probably let’s get going. Wait I seem to have few Rohu pcs as well...Ok what else do I have in the fridge..some aubergines which look tired, bottle gourd still fresh, garlic, tomatoes etc etc etc. Let me try a new combination. I have never eaten Tilapia cooked with aubergines, very well should do that. What else? Ummm..mustard-rohu combination can never go wrong..Ahhh that should do it…well have to cook fast..not much time..Today my favourite TV actress is going to die very shortly..dont be silly..I meant in the serial that I follow religiously...

Mustard Fish(Shorshe Mach)

Ingredients: Rohu fish 4-5 pcs, Yellow mustard 200gms, 4-6 green chilli, 1 tbsp turmeric powder, salt and mustard oil

Method:

1) Rub the fish pcs lightly with salt and turmeric powder and fry them
2) Make a paste of mustard and green chilli with little water
3) Heat oil in a pan
4) Add little turmeric and then add the paste
5) Sauté for 1-2 mins and add water as per the desired consistency. Dont add to much water to make the gravy watery thin. There should be a medium consistency.
7) Finally add the fried fish pcs, cover and cook for 5 minutes before they are done.
8) Simmer for 2 minutes
9) Garnish with coriander leaves and slit green chillies
10) Sprinkle ½ tbsp of mustard oil on top







Tilapia-Begun



Ingredients: Tilapia fish 2 pcs , aubergines/begun cut squarely, 1/2 cup chopped onion, 10-12 chopped garlic, 1/2 cup chopped tomato, 1tbspn turmeric powder , Red chilli powder as per taste, salt, mustard oil and coriander leaves



Method:

1) Marinate the Tilapia fish with turmeric powder, salt n mustard oil

2) Fry the fish pcs lightly, repeat the same with aubergine pcs

3) Heat mustard oil in a pan

4) Once the oil heats up, add the chopped garlic and sauté till the aroma appears

5) Now add the onion and saute till they change light brown in colour

6) Add the tomatoes at this point and cook till they soften. You can cover with a lid and cook till the tomatoes soften completely

7) Add all the dry spices and aubergine and gently fold in everything together

8) Put enough water just to cover the gravy and add the fish

9) Cover and cook for 5 minutes

10) Check the seasoning and finally garnish with coriander leaves



Fish fry


Ingredients: Rohu fish 2pcs, salt, turmeric powder 1tbspn, mustard oil for frying



Method:

1) Marinate the fish pcs with turmeric powder, salt and 1tbspn mustard oil

2) Deep fry the fish pcs in smoking hot mustard oil and serve hot
